Guiding on the Deerfield River, Salmon River, Millers River, Swift River & Lake Ontario Tributaries
The Deerfield River/ Swift River/ Hoosic River Fly Fishing Report for 2/8/2019: Monster wild brown trout is the buzz word of the next two and a half months. People ask me when is the best time to catch a huge brown trout? And I usually reply: when most people don’t want to fish! Rainy weather, cold and overcast, at night, early in the morning, during the winter when they receive less pressure and fewer bumbling idiots who spook them. In other words, the next two months present the best chance at a fish measured in pounds not inches. In the last month I’ve caught a 7 lb, a 10 lb and an astounding 17.10 lb wild brown! Not to mention numerous browns over 21 inches. So bundle up, put on the foul weather gear and get out here and catch the fish of a lifetime!
